Korban Tsunami Mentawai Sudah 335 Jiwa

Jumlah korban terus bertambah menyusul ditemukannya jenazah saat evakuasi oleh Tim SAR, TNI, Polri dan masyarakat. Hingga Kamis (28/10/2010) dinihari tercatat 355 korban tewas dan ratusan hilang belum terdata.

Posko Sikakap mencatat sudah ada 335 jiwa menjadi korban keganasan tsunami yang menerjang Mentawai sekitar 10 menit pascagempa berkekuatan 7,2 SR di kedalaman 10 kilometer, Senin (25/10) malam.

Tsunami yang terjadi ini semula diragukan tidak akan terjadi walau BMKG memang dari semula sudah merilis akan ada bahaya ancaman tsunami. Ahli geologi di Sumber pun sempat meragukan adanya tsunami yang datang karena menduga kedalaman episentrum gempa lebih dari 10 kilometer. Dan akhirnya benar benar terjadi tsunami melanda Mentawai bukan di Padang, walau sempat ada kenaikan air laut 50 sentimeter di Pesisir Selatan.

Rabu (27/10/2010) rombongan wapres Boediono mengunjungi Mentawai untuk menyampaikan turut bela sungkawa dan menyampaikan bantuan.

"Untuk bahan makanan, sudah ada yang datang dan sangat membantu para korban yang mengungsi," ujar pegawa DKP Mentawai, Hermansyah.

Hingga kini warga Sipora masih ada yang bermalam di bawah pohon dan benda-benda yang bisa melindungi dari rasa dingin. Diantara mereka terdapat anak-anak dan orang tua.

Mereka yang mengungsi adalah para warga yang berhasil menyelamatkan diri kabur menjauh dari pantai sedangkan rumahnya rusak berat, hilang atau tidak bisa ditempati lagi setelah diguncang gempa dan dilanda gelombang tsunami. Mereka pun masih takut terjadinya gempa susulan.

Rabu siang kondisi membaik sehingga kapal bantuan bisa mendarat di kepulauan Mentawai Sumbar tepatnya di pulau Sikakap. Kapal milik TNI Angkatan Laut, KRI Musi, sudah merapat di Sikakap, membawa bantuan obat- obatan, tenda dan makanan. (*)

Gereja Dove World Outreach Center di Gainesville, Florida dan kampanye bakar Al-Quran

Setelah sebelumnya melemparkan pesan kebencian lewat kaos bertuliskan Islam Is Of The Devil, kali ini Gereja Dove World Outreach Center di Gainesville, Florida berencana untuk melakukan aksi yang lebih kontroversional dengan menyerukan agar warga Amerika Serikat untuk membakar Al-Quran pada tanggal 11 September selama peringatan sembilan tahun penyerangan 11 September.

Lewat kampanye mereka yang mencanangkan International Burn a Koran Day (Hari internasional membakar Al-Quran) yang dijadwalkan akan berlangsung pada tanggal 11 September 2010, di sejumlah media maya, seperti facebook dan YouTube, gereja itu mengajak orang untuk ikut mendukung gerakan tersebut.

Gerakan tersebut mendapat kecaman dari umat kristiani sendiri. Asosiasi Nasional Evangelis, kelompok evangelis terbesar di AS, mengeluarkan pernyataan mendesak gereja untuk membatalkan acara tersebut. Peringatan yang dibarengi dengan pembakaran Al Quran itu bisa menimbulkan ketegangan di seluruh dunia antara kedua agama, Islam dan Nasrani.

"Mari kita mengembangkan hubungan kepercayaan dan menghormati agama lain. Kita semua adalah ciptaan-Nya. Oleh karena itu marilah saling menghormati," demikian sikap Asosiasi Nasional Evangelis.

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) di Amerika juga tak terprovokasi. Lembaga tersebut menyerukan umat Islam Amerika untuk menanggapi rencana gila gereja Florida yang mengkampanyekan hari internasional membakar Al-Quran, dengan menyelenggarakan pendidikan "Berbagi Al-Quran" pada acara berbuka puasa bersama di bulan Ramadhan, di mana Al-Quran akan dibagikan kepada tetangga, masyarakat dan aparat penegak

"Masyarakat muslim di Amerika dan orang-orang yang memiliki hati nurani harus mendukung upaya pendidikan yang positif untuk menolak penyebaran Islamophobia," kata Juru Bicara CAIR Ibrahim Hooper.

Seperti dilansir CNN, pimpinan gereja tersebut, Pastor Terry Jones, gencar mengampanyekan aksi tercela tersebut di sejumlah jejaring sosial. Halaman Facebook yang dibuat Jones kini telah memiliki 1.600 penggemar, jumlah tersebut justru kalah tanding dari grup lain yang didirikan dengan maksud melawan intoleransi yang tidak menghormati orang-orang muslim dengan jumlah keanggotaan sebanyak 3.100 penggemar.

"Kami percaya bahwa Islam adalah setan, yang menyebabkan jutaan orang masuk neraka. Itu adalah agama menipu, itu adalah agama kekerasan dan itu terbukti," kata Pastor Terry Jones seperti dilansir BBC.

Selain lewat situs jejaring sosial facebook, kampanye hari internasional membakar Al-Quran juga dipromosikan lewat situs berbagi video Youtube dengan pendeta Wayne Sapp sebagai pengkhotbah.

"Terdengarnya seolah usulan untuk membakar Al-Qur'an itu berakar dari rasa dendam," ujar presiden AEN, Leith Anderson. "Padahal Alkitab mengatakan bahwa umat Kristen harus 'memastikan bahwa tidak ada yang membalas kesalahan dengan kesalahan, tapi selalu berusaha untuk berbuat baik pada sesama dan setiap orang'."

Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan kantor berita The Christian Post minggu ini, pastur senior Dr. Terry Jones menjelaskan, "Kami hanya melakukannya karena kami merasa perlu ada seruan untuk melawan Islam, karena Islam memperkenalkan dirinya sebagai agama perdamaian."

Dalam meminta gereja Gainesville untuk membatalkan acara itu, AEN, yang mewakili lebih dari 45,000 gereja setempat dari 40 denominasi, mengutip resolusinya di tahun 1996 tentang penganiayaan relijius. Dalam resolusi itu, badan evangelis tersebut berjanji untuk "berbicara tentang penganiayaan relijius yang dilakukan oleh saudara-saudara Kristiani kami kapanpun hal ini muncul di seluruh dunia."

Kaum Muslim di seluruh dunia akan sangat tersinggung oleh pembakaran Al-Qur'an, seperti halnya umat Kristen pasti akan sangat terhina jika kelompok lain membakar Alkitab. "Pernyataan paling berpengaruh oleh organisasi api unggun 11 September adalah desakan untuk membatalkannya dalam nama dan cinta Yesus Kristus," ujar Anderson.

Dr. Diaa Rashwan, pakar gerakan Islam di Pusat Studi Strategis dan Politis Al Ahram Mesir, mengatakan bahwa ini adalah sebuah preseden yang sangat berbahaya yang telah melampaui semua logika dan kepekaan.

"Jika ini terjadi, krisis yang serius akan terjadi di dunia Muslim," ujarnya kepada kantor berita Al Arabiya. "Pikirkan apa yang terjadi dengan kartun Denmark. Bayangkan apa yang akan terjadi jika Al-Qur'an dibakar."

Rashwan mengatakan tidak ada hubungan antara serangan 11 September dan Al-Qur'an dan jika logika itu diterapkan, kitab suci lainnya akan bertanggung jawab untuk beberapa kejahatan terhadap kemanusiaan.

"Dalam kasus ini, kita bisa menyalahkan Alkitab Injil untuk jutaan kematian di sepanjang sejarah. Misalnya, Gereja Protestan atas nama Hitler bisa diminta bertanggung jawab untuk jutaan nyawa yang hilang dalam Perang Dunia II."

Rashwan memperingatkan akan adanya pembalasan terhadap tindakan tersebut dan meminta pemerintah Amerika untuk turun tangan sebelum lingkaran kekerasan dan ekstrimisme diprakarsai.

"Dewan Keamanan PBB juga harus ikut campur sebelum pecah perang antar agama. Membakar Al-Qur'an bukan kebebasan berekspresi. Itu adalah pelanggaran terhadap hak dari 1.3 milyar Muslim di seluruh dunia."

Berkaca pada peristiwa yang terjadi pada Januari 2010. Sembilan orang tewas akibat kena tembak dalam unjuk rasa di sebuah kota Afghanistan, dalam apa yang disebut protes pembakaran Al Quran oleh pasukan asing. Aksi kekerasan meletus di distrik Garmsir, Provinsi Helmand, Afghanistan selatan menyangkut rumor-rumor bahwa pasukan pimpinan NATO merusak sebuah Al Quran dalam satu operasi militer.

Tau apa anda tentang Deepreeze, mentang mentang dapat di donlot gratis agan main donlot aja, udah tau belom cara uninstall deepreeze, begini caranya :
1. sebelum agam menginstal deepreeze unutk lebih amannya simpan software deepreeze ke salah satu temapt yang paling aman. ( ambilah flashdisk ) ok.
2. kita lihat gambar panda di pojok kanan bawah, tekan Ship+klik 2x gambar panda.
3. selanjutnya checklist no 3 pada tampilan jendela deepreeze.
4. restar komputer
5. kemudia masukkan flashdis yg tadi tempat agan save master deepreeze ( klik dua kali kaya mo install gitu gan )atau donload disini gan
6. lalu lihat apa yang terjadi, maka deepreeze akan menampilak jendela instal dan uninstal.
7. agan pilih uninstal. ( pasti berhasil deh gan )
8. nah sekarang deepreeze telah lenyap dalam PC agan.

Mungkin kita salah satu orang yang hobi menolong, tapi apa daya tangan ta sampai, membatu teman yang sedang kesusahan di depan mata kita dapat kita lakukan, tapi membantu teman nun jauh disana sedangkan kita tidak bisa menggapai PCnya apa yang terjadi ? ini adalah kisah yang pernah penulis alami, ketika teman sedang membuatuhkan bantuan, dan ternyata saya tidak bisa datang. kini gak usah takut lagi kita akan menngunakan SHOWMYPC ; yaitu software remote jarak jauh dengan menngunakan pasilitas internet klo sampena berminat dapat di download di sini

"Nggak mungkin penyanyi asing bisa masuk ke sana, sehebat apapun nggak bisa, bukan hanya karena populer terus nduwe karep, itu nggak bisa, akan mengganggu porsinya seniman lokal di sana," jelas penulis lagu Kemesraan yang dipopulerkan oleh Iwan Fals tersebut, menjelaskan kondisi industri musik di luar negeri.

Sementara itu, Franky yang ditemui KapanLagi.com bersama Garin Nugroho, dalam radio talkshow mengenai acara Dongeng Perubahan yang digelar di Radio Mas Fm, Malang, Minggu (14/6) tersebut juga menegaskan, jika permasalahan utama dalam go international adalah regulasi yang ketat.

"Union artisnya itu tidak mengizinkan, mereka support dan begitu melindungi para artis lokalnya, jadi nggak bisa nyelonong begitu aja, ini soal regulasi, saya bilang begini malah banyak yang ngetawain," tandasnya sambil tersenyum.

Kepiawanan S Djody Membangun Usahanya

KabarIndonesia - Sebagai seorang pengusaha, Setiawan Djody sukses membangun kerajaan bisnisnya terutama di bidang perminyaan dan telekomunikasi. Di satu sisi diapun tetap konsisten menjalani hobi sekaligus “profesi ke duanya” yaitu musisi. Lalu apa hubungan musiknya dengan pemanasan global? Setiawan Djody adalah sepucuk nama yang telah dikenal begitu luas. Tidak hanya oleh kalangan pengusaha, seniman atau jajaran tokoh-tokoh berpengaruh dalam dan luar negeri. Tetapi deretan namanya juga ada di sela-sela perbincangan masyarakat biasa. Tak bisa disangkal kemampuannya untuk “mengawinkan” dua dunianya bisnis dan musik secara harmonis menjadi penyebabnya. Karena sewaktu-waktu peradaban dunia ini bisa hilang akibat ancaman kerusakan alam yang serius. “Sesungguhnya ancaman terbesar bagi anak cucu kita adalah efek dari pemanasan global dan ini lebih berbahaya dari teroris,”ujarnya.

Beberapa tokoh penting di seluruh dunia saat ini menurut Djody sudah mulai aware dengan masalah ini. “Dari Algor di Amerika Serikat sampai Pangeran Charles di Inggris semuanya memulai berkampanye soal bahaya global warming ini,” tuturnya. Ditambahkan oleh Djody mencairnya blok-blok es di kutub utara dan selatan tidak lagi sekadar wacana. Karena hal tersebut bisa terjadi dalam jangka waktu 50 tahun ke depan jika masyarakat tetap tidak mengindahkan tindakannnya yang dapat merusak keseimbangan alam. Dan konsekuensi besar yang harus di tanggung adalah tenggelamnya dunia ini di mulai dari benua Eropa dan Amerika. Kenyataan ini pula yang melatar belakangi Chairman & CEO Sedco Oil ini merilis album bertajuk Opera Raksasa Biru yang mengusung pesan Warning! Global Warming. Baginya berkampanye lewat musik adalah sebuah langkah yang efektif. Musik ia anggap sebagai suara yang universal untuk menyuarakan kebenaran. “Masyarakat mulai kita ajak untuk lebih peduli terhadap lingkungan dan sumber daya alamnya. Kita mulai dari hal-hal yang sederhana dulu. Seperti mencabut charger setelah selesai di pakai, gunakan lampu seperlunya, dan lainnya,” papar pemilik gelar KPH dari keraton Solo ini.

Peran Indonesia sendiri terhadap kelangsungan dunia ini sangat besar. Apalagi Indonesia merupakan salah satu paru-paru dunia yang hutannya mengalami kerusakan terbesar dan tercepat. “Bayangkan jika Indonesia menyumbangkan karbondioksida sebanyak 1 persen saja di kutub utara bisa 12 kalinya,” tukas Djody. Karena itu semua pihak sudah saatnya untuk melangkah memperbaiki alam. “Seperti BCA ini mungkin salah satu divisinya bisa membangun usaha dengan green capital. Jangan dipikir ini tidak ada keuntungannya, tetap profit oriented. Jadi selain menyelamatkan alam keuntungan bisnisnya juga ada,” ujar kawan penyair Rendra dan musisi Iwan Fals ini.

Budaya dan seni sejatinya memberi influence besar dalam mempengaruhi kesuksesan, sebagaimana diakui oleh seorang setiawan Djody. “Saya waktu kecil pernah mengenal Sony Morita pemilik Sony Coorporation beliau itu ahli musik. Dia membangun coorporate culturenya sesuai dengan watak budayanya sendiri. Hasilnya sekarang Sony menjadi perusahaan besar.” Pun demikian dengan Djody ketika bisnis dan musik hampir tak jeda mengisi kesehariannya diapun mampu membangun perusahaannya sesuai dengan kulturnya sendiri.
Bagi Djody bisnis dan musik merupakan dua kutub yang saling bersimbiosis mutualisme. “Tanpa mempunyai kekuatan bisnis, saya tidak akan bisa menghasilkan karya kalau orang jawa bilang adiluhung, yaitu karya yang tidak mementingkan pasar dan punya nilai lebih,” ujar Ketua Federasi Kebudayaan Indonesia-Rusia ini. Kini dalam titik kemapanannya Djodypun kian arif melihat kehidupan. “Setelah saya masuk umur kepala lima hampir habis, saya ingin mengisi sisa hidup dengan penjernihan spiritual. Jadi selain profit oriented juga spiritual oriented,” pungkasnya.

Pada tahun 1970-an selepas menyelesaikan sekolah di Amerika Serikat Djody memulai usaha pertamanya di bidang perminyakan dan real estate. Djody juga tercatat melakukan bisnis kapal tanker bersama putra mantan penguasa Orde Baru Sigit Haryojudanto. Lantas, bersama Tung Chi Hwa—mantan Gubernur Hong Kong—Djody membangun kapal pengangkut minyak mentahnya. Dengan Tommy Soeharto Djody juga pernah mengembangkan proyek LNG dan bisnis mobil balap Lamborghini. Karena hal ini lantas orang banyak yang mengaitkan bahwa keberhasilan bisnis Djody lantaran dia dekat dengan keluarga cendana. Menurut Djody sebagai pengusaha tentu wajar jika dia dekat dengan penguasa namun bukan berati dia harus larut di dalamnya. “Kuncinya adalah Truth full and wisdom. Meski dekat dengan Pak Harto saya pernah mengritik beliau lewat lagu-lagu di Kantata. Saya bersahabat dengan SBY tapi saya tidak mau menjadi penjilat,” papar Djody. Salah satu kritik terbesar Djody terhadap Soeharto adalah soal rencana pembangunan reaktor nuklir. Dan kini ketika pemerintah SBY ingin mengembangkan lagi energi ini Djody juga tetap berteriak lantang. “Nuklir memang murah tapi cost major risk sangat luar biasa. Kalau sampai gagal mengatasi habis semua,” papar Djody. Menurut Djody masih banyak energi lain di Indonesia ini yang juga murah dan resikonya kecil seperti batu bara atau gas.

Keberhasilan dalam Kesederhanaan

Keberhasilan dan kesuksesan seseorang kadang belum tentu karena penguasaan teknologi tinggi, lulusan universitas terkemuka, kemenarikan user interface (baca: tampan atau cantik), kewibawaan, kejeniusan, kepandaian, atau karena atribut-atribut hebat dan keren yang lain. Banyak jalan untuk sukses, saking banyaknya jalan, membuat “teknik menjadi sukses” menjadi sulit untuk dibuatkan formulanya. Kita tentu tidak bisa menduga bahwa apa yang dilakukan oleh seorang mahasiswa bernama Jerry Yang dengan mengumpulkan link-link situs, membuat kategori dan fitur pencarian akan menjadikannya situs portal dan search engine terkemuka di dunia (Yahoo.Com). Itu adalah sekelumit diskusi di Kuliah Umum Universitas Widyatama Bandung, dimana penulis diminta menjadi pembicara untuk tema “Trend SDM dan Jalur Karir IT”.
Iwan Fals telah menjadi legenda dalam permusikan Indonesia. Padahal seperti pengakuan mas Iwan di awal-awal karirnya, dia hanya bisa mainin 3 chord gitar. Lagunya juga sederhana-sederhana, kekuatan dan keunikannya justru adalah di lirik.

Justru dengan kesederhanaan penggunaan chord gitar, saya yang waktu itu masih SMP bisa dengan mudah menyanyikan lagu-lagu “Sarjana Muda”, “Aku Antarkan”, “Buku ini Aku Pinjam” milik Iwan Fals dengan gitar murah yang dibelikan orang tua saya. Demikian juga dengan anak-anak yang biasa berkumpul di post ronda di kampung, yang belajar gitar asal-asalan, tetap bisa dengan merdu menyanyikan lagu-lagu mas Iwan. Dan akhirnya lagu-lagu sederhana mas Iwan menggema di seantero republik, terkenal dan melegenda.

Tukul Arwana menjadi satu ikon baru dalam dunia talkshow di Indonesia. Mas Tukul mendobrak atribut host talkshow yang biasanya cerdas, pintar, keren dan berwibawa. Padahal Mas Tukul sendiri adalah wong ndeso dengan logat bahasa Indonesia medok ala Perbalan Semarang dan ditambah dengan bahasa Inggris yang belepotan. Tukul Arwana adalah trend setter baru, kalimat sederhana seperti “kembali ke laptop”, “puas kamu puas” atau olok-olok ala semarang seperti “kutu kupret”, “katrok”, “asem ik”, dsb menyebar secara nasional. Mas Tukul berhasil menjadikan kesederhanaan dan kekurangannya menjadi kapital untuk meraih sukses.

Google.Com termasuk “perusak mitos” web design dunia. Penampilannya yang terlalu sederhana, tentu akan sulit memenangkan kontes web design di level dunia atau bahkan di level Indonesia Kedip-kedipin Tapi sebenarnya secara teori software engineering, Google.Com adalah contoh terbaik bagaimana sebuah sistem dan software dikembangkan. Kalau tujuannya adalah membuat mesin pencari alias sistem yang menjadi solusi untuk pencarian informasi, kenapa top page harus menampilkan yang lain selain kolom untuk pencarian? Google.Com membuktikan keberhasilannya dengan meraup 60-70% market share mesin pencari.

IlmuKomputer.Com dulu sering diejek orang karena terlalu sederhana dalam teknologi web, hanya menggunakan statik html, tanpa desain yang menarik dan bahkan tanpa CMS. Saya bukan desainer yang baik, dan saya memang ingin fokus memberi solusi di permasalahan yang ada (sebagai referensi bisa baca tulisan saya tentang membangun komunitas maya). Setelah 4 tahun menggunakan statik html, di awal tahun 2007 IlmuKomputer.Com saya ubah menggunakan dynamic html dengan CMS yang sederhana yaitu Wordpress. Sederhana karena ukuran kecil, business process tidak rumit dan saya tidak repot kalau ada security hole karena saya cukup update

dengan versi terbaru CMS dari Wordpress.Org. Dengan kenyamanan itu saya bisa konsentrasi ke konten dan solusi yang ingin saya tawarkan. Saya yakin IlmuKomputer.Com belum sukses, tapi jumlah visitor dan daily hits yang tinggi membuktikan bahwa penggunanya banyak (dan semakin banyak).

Kegigihan dan kejelian kita mengubah suatu kesederhanaan dan bahkan kelemahan atau kekurangan, menjadi sebuah kekuatan adalah kunci keberhasilan. Jangan minder, jangan rendah diri dan jangan hiraukan ejekan orang lain hanya karena kita sekolah di universitas yang tidak terkemuka ataupun di universitas kecil yang ada di kota kecil Kedip-kedipin Toh Linus Torvald yang bukan lulusan Standford University atau MIT berhasil membuktikan bahwa LINUX dapat menjadi sistem operasi handal dan terkenal, bahkan mengalahkan kampiun sistem operasi dunia Prof. Andrew S. Tannenbaum yang sebelumnya membuat MINIX.

Kreatifitas menghasilkan produk yang diakui dan bermanfaat untuk masyarakat harus terus diasah, ini sering saya sebut keunggulan defacto. Situs ini memang baru dalam dunia “afiliasi”, saya mengenalnya bulan Februari 2009,

Telah saya bahas sebelumnya mengenai situs ini yang menyediakan Pay Per Click System, walaupun bayaran mereka kecil.

Mungkin pernah yang satu ini sahabat blogger alami, saat anda sedang asik ber-action di depan komputer, dan tiba-tiba komputer sahabat blogger mati, checking sana sini sudah sahabat blogger lakukan sampai-sampai timbul perasaan buruk sama yang namanya PS (power supply ), padahal PS sahabat blogger baik-baik saja.

Curiga boleh tapi jangan keterlaluan, problem seperti ini pernah saya alami bahkan sampai halnya curiga yang berlebihan dengan perangkat PC yang ada di CPU. baru nyalakan komputer 5 menit kemudian mati, ini berlangsung terus menerus. bikin penasaran coba sahabat blogger cheking Fan CPU dan lihat di atas Processor masihkan ada pasta yang menempel pada Processor komputer sahabat blogger.

Berikut cara mengatasinya :
1. Belilah pasta yang paling baik.
2. Buka casing CPU sahabat.
3. Buka pengait Fan yang menempel pada motherboard.
4. Bersihkan pasta yang masih melekat / sisa pasta yang masih melekat.
5. Dan bersihkan juga media processornya dengan kuas yang bersih.
6. Lakukan berulang-ulang proses pembersihannya.

1.#Gunakan Windows startup disk

The Last Known Good fitur Konfigurasi menggantikan isi dari kunci registri CurrentControlSet dengan salinan cadangan yang digunakan terakhir berhasil memulai sistem operasi.

Ketika mendeteksi perubahan yang akan datang, System Restore segera membuat salinan cadangan, yang disebut restore point, dari komponen kritis sebelum perubahan terjadi. Selain itu, System Restore dikonfigurasi secara default untuk membuat restore point setiap 24 jam.

Untuk menggunakan Pemulihan Sistem, pertama restart komputer dengan menekan [Ctrl] [Alt] [Delete]. Bila Anda melihat pesan Silakan pilih sistem operasi untuk memulai atau mendengar bunyi 'bip' tunggal, tekan [F8] untuk menampilkan menu Windows Advanced Options. Sekarang, pilih Safe Mode dari menu dan tekan [Enter].

Setelah Windows XP boot ke Safe mode, klik tombol Start, akses All Programs | Accessories | System Tools menu, lalu pilih System Restore. 4.#Gunakan Recovery Console

Ketika boot Windows XP masalah parah, Anda harus menggunakan pendekatan yang lebih drastis. Windows XP CD bootable dan akan memberi Anda akses ke alat yang disebut Recovery Console.

Untuk boot dari CD Windows XP, masukkan ke dalam CD-ROM drive pada sistem masalah dan tekan [Ctrl] [Alt] [Delete] untuk me-reboot komputer. Setelah sistem mulai boot dari CD, cukup ikuti prompt yang akan memungkinkan pemuatan file dasar yang diperlukan untuk menjalankan Setup. Ketika anda melihat layar Welcome To Setup, yang ditunjukkan pada Gambar A, tekan R untuk memulai Konsol Pemulihan.

Masalah seakan tidak akan pernah luput dari negara ini, mulai dari krisis kemimpinan, krisis hukum bahkan hingga krisis listrik sekalipun. Banyak sekali masalah yang harus kita benahi bersama-sama. Selain peran pemimpin, peran rakyat pun sangat besar untuk menanggapi berbagai masalah yang selama ini melanda negeri kita tercinta ini.

Belum tuntas masalah hukum yang menyeret pemimpin KPK Bibit dan Chandra, kini rakyat juga dipaksa untuk merasakan krisis lainnya yang sangat mengganggu. Entah apa yang sebenarnya terjadi pada negeri ini?

Mengapa proses hukum pemimpin KPK Bibit dan Chanda berlarut-larut dan belum juga tuntas. Rakyat pun kini dibuat tidak percaya dengan kepolisian dan kejaksaan. Dan yang lebih menyedihkan lagi, hingga saat ini presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono belum juga mengambil keputusan atas kasus yang menimpa pimpinan KPK Bibit dan Chandra.

Sebagian besar rakyat Indonesia berharap agar presiden memberikan sikap tegas dan gamblang sesuai dengan rekomendasi yang diberikan Tim 8. Menurut verifikasi fakta yang dilakukan Tim 8 selama beberapa minggu sudah jelas, bahwa ada rekayasa hukum sehingga mengkriminalkan pemimpin KPK Bibit dan Chandra.

Sangat disayangkan, seharusnya krisis hukum ini tidak terjadi pada Indonesia yang dikenal sebagai negara hukum. Rakyat juga berharap besar agar presiden memberikan keputusan seadil-adilnya dan sesuai dengan data yang direkomendasikan oleh Tim 8. Jika memang terbukti ada rekayasa hukum atas kasus yang menimpa pimpinan KPK Bibit dan Chandra, presiden harus bisa memberikan sanksi tegas kepada pihak-pihak yang terlibat dan memaksakan kasus Bibit dan Chandra.

Selain krisis hukum, rakyat pun kini dipaksa untuk merasakan krisis listrik yang belakangan sering terjadi. Pemadaman bergilir pun menjadi pilihan tepat yang dianggap sebagai cara untuk mengatasi krisis listrik yang sedang melanda ibu kota hingga ke pelosok negeri.

Sungguh keputusan yang tidak sesuai dengan harapan rakyat, karena pemadaman bergilir yang belakangan sering terjadi justru malah berdampak negatif bagi kelangsungan hidup. Tidak sedikit pengusaha-pengusaha kecil yang terpaksa tutup lantaran mengandalkan listrik untuk proses produksinya. Sebuah keputusan yang sulit diterima akal sehat, bagaimana negeri yang kaya ini bisa mengalami krisis listrik. Bahkan anggaran pengadaan dan perbaikan untuk alat penunjang pembakit listrik pun sudah disediakan. Yang menjadi pertanyaan, kemana larinya anggaran tersebut?

Namun di balik krisis listrik yang sedang menimpa Indonesia, ada hal yang menarik perhatian rakyat. Presiden justru tidak ragu untuk segera mengganti pemimpin PLN sekalipun itu bukan sebuah solusi yang tepat. Sebenarnya yang harus dipertanyakan, mengapa Indonesia bisa mengalami hal ini.

Komputer hang seringkali membuat kita jengkel, apalagi kita sedang di buru waktu, ini sangat menjengkelkan, sampai akhirnya kita mengalami stress! saya juga tidak mau terlalu banyak basa-basi dalam penyampaian artikel ini, nanti malah tambah stress lagi.. langsung saja yuk..

Jika PC/laptop anda mengalami HANG jangan sekali-kali anda melakukan reset pada PC karena akan berdampak patal, kronologisnya pada saat hardisk dalam melakukan action yang sangat berat tiba-tiba anda mematikan / mereset PC, ini akan berpengaruh pada kinerja PC anda, saran saya :

1. Tekan CTRL+ALT+DEL secara serempak maka nanti akan tapil menu seperti gambar dibawah ini,

kemudian lihat di bawah task ada banyak program yang sedang berjalan ( runing ), klik program yang di belakangnya ada tulisan "not responding" ( ini menandakan bahwa salah satu aplikasi program tidak bisa dijalankan ), kemudian pilih endtask, jika keluar tampilan menu ikuti saja atau klik endtask. maka komputer anda akan kembali normal seperti semula....( selamat mencoba )

Komputer sering hang di sebabkan karena kurang menunjangnya pasilitas hardware atau pendukung PC sehingga PC banyak melakukan start_up pada saat bekerja. untuk mengatasinya silahkan sobat masuk ke mycomputer+klikkanan+properties+hardware+device manager " jika ada hardware masih di tandai seru warna kuning itu yang harus sobat selesaikan ( alangkah bagusnya gunakan driver CD bawaan mainboardnya.

Koin adalah nilai rupiah yang sangat kecil dari pecahan Rp. 25,- sampai dengan Rp,500,- pada jaman dahulu koin ini sering sekali di gunakan oleh masyarakat menengah kebawah, disamping memang sedikit nilainya tetapi besar manfaatnya,

Koin bukanlah hal yang aneh dinegeri ini, bahkan sering kita temukan bila sedang berjalan kaki tercecer dijalan uang koin, atau kita sering memberikan uang kepada pengamen di atas bus dan halte kendaraan dengan menggunakan koin, atau kita memberikan amal kepada pengemis juga menggunakan koin, dan kembalian belanja ibu-ibu di warung pun dengan koin, bahkan anak kecil sekalipun senang sekali apabila dikasih uang koin.

Berarti kita dapat simpulkan nilai koin dalam negeri ini hanya untuk kalangan tertentu, untuk rakyat kecil, rakyat menengah kebawah. “ tetapi tanpa kita sadari bahwa nilai koin ini sangat dasyat apabila kita kumpulkan seumpama kita ambil uang koin RP 500,- dengan berat 5,34 Gram diameter 24.00 mm, tebal 1.83 mm

Kemudian uang yang kita miliki sebanyak 10 jt atau sekitar 20.000 satuan koin receh apabila beratnya 1 koin 5.34 gram, maka jika 20.000 = 106.800 gram atau 106.8 kg dan bila di samakan dengan semen kira-kira 2 sak semen yang harus di angkat. ( bayangkan sahabat berat sekali ).

dan coba bayangkan kembali jika uang koin ini diberikan kepada hakim yang menangani kasus ibu prita, kemudia mereka menghitung ulang koin tersebut dengan nilai 304 juta dipotong 100 jt sisa 204 jt dengan dibantu para hakim lainnya, kira-kira sanggup gak sih dihitung 1 hari ???

Jakarta - Obrolan hangat di kalangan 'aktivis' milis atau pun blogger saat ini adalah Prita Mulyasari. Ibu dua anak yang masih kecil-kecil itu ditahan di LP Wanita Tangerang sejak 13 Mei lalu dengan tuduhan pencemaran nama baik RS Omni International Tangerang lewat internet.

Penahanan Prita yang diadili 4 Juni mendatang itu dinilai berlebihan. Alhasil, 'penggiat' internet pun ramai-ramai membelanya, termasuk lewat Facebook.

Support itu bertajuk "DUKUNGAN BAGI IBU PRITA MULYASARI, PENULIS SURAT KELUHAN MELALUI INTERNET YANG DIPENJARA". Hingga pukul 11.30 WIB, Selasa (2/6/2009) grup ini telah memiliki 5.910 member. Grup ini menargetkan mengumpulkan 7.500 member.

Aspirasi kelompok perjuangan ini adalah 'Bebaskan Ibu Prita Mulyasari Dari Penjara dan Segala Tuntutan Hukum' dengan 3 poin:

1. Cabut segala ketentuan hukum pidana tentang pencemaran nama baik karena sering disalahgunakan untuk membungkam hak kemerdekaan mengeluarkan pendapat

2. Keluhan/curhat ibu Prita Mulyasari thd RS Omni tidak bisa dijerat dengan Pasal 27 ayat (3) UU ITE

3. Keluhan/curhat Ibu Prita Mulyasari dijamin oleh UU No 8 Tahun 1999 tentang Perlindungan Konsumen

4. RS Omni hendaknya memberikan HAK JAWAB, bukan melakukan tuntutan perdata dan pidana atas keluhan/curhat yg dimuat di suara pembaca dan di milis2

Kisah tragis Prita ini dimulai ketika Prita menulis keluhannya lewat email ke sejumlah rekannya pada medio Agustus 2008 setelah komplainnya kepada pihak RS tidak mendapat respons memuaskan. Isinya kekesalan Prita pada pelayanan RS Omni yang telah dianggapnya telah membohonginya dengan analisa sakit demam berdarah dan sudah diberikan suntikan macam-macam dengan dosis tinggi sehingga mengalami sesak napas. Prita juga menyesalkan sulitnya mendapatkan hasil lab medis.

Tak dinyana, tulisan Prita menyebar ke berbagai milis. Pihak RS Omni telah menjawab tulisan Prita lewat milis dan memasang iklan di media cetak. Tak cukup itu, RS itu juga memperkarakan Prita ke pengadilan. Prita dijerat dengan UU Informasi dan Traksaksi Elektronik (ITE) dengan hukuman maksimal 6 tahun atau denda Rp 1 miliar. (nrl/iy)

JAKARTA--Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono memperingatkan ada pihak-pihak tertentu yang ingin memanfaatkan peringatan Hari Antikorupsi Dunia pada 9 Desember 2009 untuk menggelar gerakan sosial bermotif kepentingan politik. Dalam pengantar sebelum memulai rapat kabinet paripurna membahas program 100 hari di Kantor Kepresidenan, Jakarta, Jumat, Presiden di hadapan para menteri mengatakan sejak lima tahun terakhir peringatan Hari Antikorupsi Dunia telah digunakan untuk menambah semangat dan kegigihan guna memberantas korupsi di Indonesia.

Namun, lanjut Presiden, ia mendapatkan informasi bahwa pada 9 Desember mendatang akan ada gerakan-gerakan sosial bermotif politik yang sama sekali tidak berkaitan dengan semangat antikorupsi. "Informasi yang saya dapat juga ada yang motifnya bukan itu, tapi motif politik yang sesungguhnya tidak senantiasa atau selalu terkait dengan langkah pemberantasan korupsi," ujarnya.

Menurut Presiden, mungkin saja pada 9 Desember 2009 nanti akan muncul tokoh-tokoh yang selama ini tidak ia ketahui sepak terjangnya dalam upaya pemberantasan korupsi di Indonesia. "Mungkin saja akan muncul tokoh-tokoh nanti pada 9 Desember yang selama lima tahun lalu tidak pernah saya lihat kegigihannya di dalam memberantas korupsi mungkin akan tampil. Ya selamat datang kalau memang ingin betul memberantas korupsi di negeri ini bersama-sama, dengan demikian akan bawa manfaat bagi rakyat kita," tuturnya.

Presiden juga kembali menyampaikan di balik hiruk pikuk pemberitaan tentang Bank Century, terdapat motivasi politik yang tidak dapat digolongkan sebagai rasa ingin tahu masyarakat. "Saya katakan seperti itu supaya saudara tidak 'surprise' nanti. Tetapi, pesan saya, apa pun yang akan terjadi di Jakarta utamanya, jangan ganggu sama sekali konsentrasi dan kegigihan kita untuk melaksanakan tugas pokok kita menjalankan tugas-tugas kita bersama menyukseskan pembangunan dan dapat ditingkatkannya kesejahteraan rakyat kita," tuturnya.

Kepala Negara memperkirakan situasi politik tetap akan menghangat selama satu hingga lima minggu terakhir, dan menganggapnya sebagai tidak luar biasa dalam kehidupan demokrasi. "Ini bagian dari ekspresi kebebasan, bagian dari demokrasi itu sendiri. Sepanjang semua itu tidak sampai pada terguncangnya stabilitas di negeri ini yang akhirnya apa yang harus dilakukan pemerintah tidak bisa dilakukan, dan yang akan menjadi korban adalah rakyat kita," demikian Presiden. ant/kpo

Sebagai mahluk sosial, manusia dididik untuk mematuhi serangkaian peraturan dan norma dalam menjalani hidupnya. Salah satu hal yang selalu diajarkan pada kebanyakan orang sejak kecil adalah kebiasaan untuk menolong orang lain.

Kebiasaan ini akan tertanam di dalam diri manusia dan akan muncul secara otomatis saat melihat sesama yang membutuhkan. Selain itu, manusia membutuhkan kemampuan saling bekerjasama dan saling membantu saat dihadapkan pada satu masalah.

Hal ini penting bagi keselarasan dinamika dalam kelompok. Jika salah satu atau beberapa anggota kelompok memiliki masalah, maka keselarasan kemungkinan terancam. Maka dari itu, penting bagi setiap orang dalam kelompok untuk memiliki kesadaran menolong orang lain yang seoang bermasalah.

Faktor utama yang menentukan apakah seseorang akan menolong orang lain atau tidak adalah apakah perilaku tersebut akan merugikan dirinya atau tidak. Jika kerugian tersebut nampak nyata, manusia akan cenderung untuk mengurungkan niatnya untuk menolong. Hal ini mungkin yang dapat menjelaskan mengapa banyak orang Indonesia yang "hobi" menonton kecelakaan atau kebakaran atau kendaraan yang mogok di jalan.

Lewis Hamilton meraih pole position pada balapan pamungkas Formula One (F1) musim ini dengan menorehkan waktu satu menit 40.498 detik di Sirkuit Yas Marina.

Duet Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel dan Mark Webber berhasil membuntuti Hamilton di posisi kedua dan ketiga. Keduanya berhasil memperbaiki catatan waktunya hingga sempat menjadi sainan berat bagi Hamilton di sesi kualifikasi.

Vettel dan Webber mampu mendahului duet Brawn GP, Rubens Barrichello dan Jenson Button. Sang juara dunia baru gagal mempertahankan raihan waktu tercepatnya yang sempat dibukukan pada sesi latihan ketiga sebelum sesi kualifikasi.

Posisi keenam ditempati Jarno Trulli yang sempat berusaha keras meraih waktu tercepat di Q3.

Tim BMW berhasil menempatkan dua pembalapnya, Robert Kubica dan Nick Heidfeld, secara berturut-turut di posisi tujuh dan delapan. Melenmgkapi posisi sepuluh besar adalah Nico Rosberg dan SebastianBuemi.

Kimi Raikkonen hanya mampu meraih posisi ke-11, bahkan Giancarlo Fisichella berada di posisi paling terakhir sehingga menyulitkan Ferrari untuk menggeser posisi McLaren di papan klasemen konstruktor.

Fernando Alonso juga belum bisa berbuat banyak untuk membuat balapan perpisahannya dengan Renault menjadi sesuatu yang indah. Sang juara tahun 2005 dan 2006 itu hanya bertengger di posisi ke-16.[nov]

Logon ke komputer dengan account yang memiliki hak akses administrative
Ubah nama file berikut dengan ekstension .old : WgaLogon.dll, WgaTray.exe, keduanya biasanya di temukan di C:\windows\system32\ (tergantung dimana sistem windows tersimpan)bila sudah terubah maka akan menjadi WgaLogon.old dan WgaTray.old.
Restart komputer anda.

Unregister file LegitControl.dll dengan Regsvr32. Caranya: masuk ke command prompt, Klik start, klik run dan ketik "cmd", lalu klik OK.

Di command prompt, ketik: "Regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\LegitCheckControl.dll /u"
Restart kembali komputer.

kemudian
Klik Start, Run(atau windows key+R) dan ketik cmd, lalu klik OK (kembali ke command prompt).

Hapus file berikut dengan mengetik "del c:\windows\system32\WgaTray.Old"

When people are reading a magazine or newspaper you have only seconds for them to notice your ad. If there are heavy borders around all the ads you see, make your ad without borders. Is everything in color? Make yours black and white. If everything is in black and white run a color ad. Perhaps try running the ad upside-down!! MAKE YOUR AD STAND OUT FROM THE REST SO IT WILL BE NOTICED!

TIP #2 Another advertisement trick that is seldom used: Cartoons are much more apt to be read than advertisements. Try making your ad in the form of a cartoon! Cartoon ads work much better than regular ads. Also your magazine or newspaper editor will thank you because good cartoon ads make a publication more fun to read and help him sell his publication.

Here' s a little stuff I found about bypassing Windows XP SP2 Activation Step

How to bypass WPA (Windows Activation) on Windows XP
Tested on Windows XP Professional SP2 and Windows Server 2003 R2.

First, click "Run..." on your start menu, type "regedit" and press enter.

The Registry Editor opens up, and you are presented with a long list of keys on the left.

Browse through the list to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents.

On the right, you should see a stringz value named OOBETimer.

This is the activation stuff. If you change it, Windows will change it back within a few seconds.

Whatever its value is, change it to FF D5 71 D6 8B 6A 8D 6F D5 33 93 FD.

After you've changed it, right-click WPAEvents and choose "Permissions..."

Under "Permissions..." for WPAEvents, Go into the Advanced settings.

So what good is Page Rank now?

Page Rank is perceived by many to be the yardstick with which to evaluate the importance Google gives to a web page.

An Example

I'll give you an example. We have been working with a client in the insurance industry to bring their website into the top ten results. Following three months of hard work by my search engine promotion
team, we lifted the site from Google obscurity to a first page listing. During our review meeting with our client, they raised a concern: one of their competitors had a higher Page Rank than their newly optimized site.

The fact that our client's site was ranked above their competitors did not seem to matter. It was our client's perception, particularly due to Google's explanation of Page Rank, that their page was not as important.

Being in the search engine promotion industry, we know that the Google Page Rank display is insignificant, but those who are not in the industry do not know this. All they know is what Google tells them.

The Page Rank Display is Not an Importance Indicator

To demonstrate to our client that Page Rank does not measure how good a site is, we ran a test. Taking an unused domain we owned added some nonsense text with links pointing to the same page. We added a couple of inbound links to get site indexed by Google, sat back, and waited.

Within five weeks that site, which was filled with nonsense, was given a Page Rank of 5/10. Many very important websites filled with important content and a lot of links are not given this high of a Page Rank, yet our useless website managed to achieve a high Page Rank.

If the Page Rank display really assesses the page importance, why would our useless website is counted as important? The fact is, the page is not important – despite what Google's Page Rank display may tell us.

What is the Point of the Page Rank Display?

If a searcher is looking to make a purchase online and arrives at a website with the exact item that they are looking for at a favorable price, should they not buy the product if the Page Rank display gives them a low rating?

The only use of the Page Rank display would be for people who want to optimize their website for the search engines. Of course, if the Page Rank display is inaccurate as it was in the example given above, then it is of no use to optimizers as well.

Although Page Rank may still be a factor in how a website ranks in Google, the Page Rank display offers no tangible benefit. So let's put the Page Rank display to bed.

How to Start a Book Club—10 Easy Steps

So you want to start your own book club? Terrific! Book discussion groups are great ways to make new friends, keep in touch with old ones, discover new books, and have meaty conversations. To help you get organized, simply follow these 10 steps and you’ll be on your way!

1. Decide what kind of a club you want to be—do you want to be seriously academic with a heavy emphasis on book discussion and minimal social chat? Or do you enjoy the social bonding aspect of a book club—food, wine, personal sharing—and want to keep discussions shorter, light and fun? Probably, it’s somewhere in between the two.

2. Decide what kind of books you want to read—do you enjoy reading the older classics or contemporary novels? Challenging works or somewhat lighter? Perhaps poetry, plays, or nonfiction—history, biographies, travel stories, current events. What about specific genres—detective/mystery, romance, inspirational, science fiction or fantasy? Perhaps you’re eclectic—you like a variety of genres.

3. Choose three friends who share similar reading tastes and ways of approaching book discussions—that’s important. You all want to be on the same page, so to speak. Each one of the three should ask one or two others, for a total of 7-10 members. It doesn’t matter if you don’t all know each other; in fact, it’s more fun if you don’t. And start small—you can always add new members when you want, though it’s good to stop at 16, a maximum number for most book clubs.

4. Choose when and where to meet. Once you all get together, pick a day and time of the month that works with everyone’s schedule. Some clubs meet in the evenings, after work; others on weekends. Those who are at home with children, or retired, find midmornings or lunchtime best. The most important thing is to establish a schedule and try to stick to it.

Then, of course, decide where you want to meet. Most clubs meet in each others’ homes or restaurants. Others find rooms in local libraries, Y’s, or other more public places. Or you may decide to become a library-sponsored group, in which case you will always have a good source of fresh new members.

5. Decide about food. There will be food, right? Of course. Do you want just appetizers or desserts…or do you want full meals? And who prepares the food—does every member bring a dish…or does each member cook once a during the year? Maybe it’s brown bag lunch or a potluck supper.

Think, too, about having themed food to match your book—feature food from Afghanistan when you read A Thousand Splendid Suns. Look for Book Club Recipes on the web to give you ideas.

6. Decide how to select your books. Most clubs use one of two basic methods—voting or rotation. The voting begins with members making book suggestions, followed by discussion, and then a vote. The process can be as formal or informal as you want. The rotation system means that every member gets a month to choose a book. Both methods have their strong suits…and their drawbacks.

Choose two or three books at a time so members can read at their own pace. Many clubs choose all their books for the year at one meeting, but that ties clubs into a rigid schedule…and it’s unfair to members who had to miss the one meeting.

7. Give yourselves a name. And be creative: some of my favorites are The Happy Bookers…or First, the Food Book Club…or The Brooksville Book Babes.

8. Send out monthly reminders for every meeting. Don’t rely on peoples’ memories. Use email, phone or postcards, so make sure you keep an up-to-date contact list.

9. Keep a journal. It’s a nice way to keep track of all the books you’ve read and what you thought of them. You might include photo highlights of special meetings or trips to hear an author speaker.

10. Give back to the community. Collect dues and donate books to your local library, or sponsor a scholarship for youngster in a literacy program. Schedule reading times for nursing homes patients.

Starting book clubs takes some initial work up front to get them off the ground. But once up and running, you’ll be surprised at how they take on a life of their own. Good luck…and happy reading!

TO BE SUCCESSFUL AT THEIR job, internal auditors must be able to write, speak, and listen effectively. Of these three skills, effective listening may be the most crucial because auditors are required to do it so often. Unfortunately, listening also may be the most difficult skill to master.

Effective listening is challenging, in part, because people often are more focused on what they're saying than on what they're hearing in return. According to a recent study by the Harvard Business Review, people think the voice mail they send is more important than the voice mail they receive. Generally, senders think that their message is more helpful and urgent than do the people who receive it.

Additionally, listening is difficult because people don't work as hard at it as they should. Listening seems to occur so naturally that putting a lot of effort into it doesn't seem necessary. However, hard work and effort is exactly what effective listening requires.

Internal auditors must listen to explanations, rationales, and defenses of financial practices and procedures. They are constantly communicating with fellow employees whose backgrounds range from accounting to finance to marketing to information systems. In addition, explanations by fellow employees of any "unusual" practices often pose a significant challenge to an internal auditor's listening skills. Auditors can use the following techniques to improve these skills.

1. CONCENTRATE ON WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING. When listening to someone, do you often find yourself thinking about a job or task that is nearing deadline or an important family matter? In the middle of a conversation, do you sometimes realize that you haven't heard a word the other person has said? Most individuals speak at the rate of 175 to 200 words per minute. However, research suggests that we are very capable of listening and processing words at the rate of 600 to 1,000 words per minute. An internal auditor's job today is very fast and complex, and because the brain does not use all of its capacity when listening, an auditor's mind may drift to thinking of further questions or explanations rather than listening to the message at hand. This unused brainpower can be a barrier to effective listening, causing the auditor to miss or misinterpret what others are saying. It is important for internal auditors to actively concentrate on what others are saying so that effective communication can occur.

2. SEND THE NONVERBAL MESSAGE THAT YOU ARE LISTENING. When someone is talking to you, do you maintain eye contact with that person? Do you show the speaker you are listening by nodding your head? Does your body language transmit the message that you are listening? Are you leaning forward and not using your hands to play with things? Most communication experts agree that nonverbal messages can be three times as powerful as verbal messages. Effective communication becomes difficult anytime you send a nonverbal message that you're not really listening.

3. AVOID EARLY EVALUATIONS. When listening, do you often make immediate judgments about what the speaker is saying? Do you assume or guess what the speaker is going to say next? Do you sometimes discover later that you failed to interpret correctly what the speaker was telling you? Because a listener can listen at a faster rate than most speakers talk, there is a tendency to evaluate too quickly. That tendency is perhaps the greatest barrier to effective listening. It is especially important to avoid early evaluations when listening to a person with whom you disagree. When listeners begin to disagree with a sender's message, they tend to misinterpret the remaining information and distort its intended meaning so that it is consistent with their own beliefs.

4. AVOID GETTING DEFENSIVE. Do you ever take what another person says personally when what her or she is saying is not meant to be personal? Do you ever become angry at what another person says? Careful listening does not mean that you will always agree with the other party's point of view, but it does mean that you will try to listen to what the other person is saying without becoming overly defensive. Too much time spent explaining, elaborating, and defending your decision or position is a sure sign that you are not listening. This is because your role has changed from one of listening to a role of convincing others they are wrong. After listening to a position or suggestion with which you disagree, simply respond with something like, "I understand your point. We just disagree on this one." Effective listeners can listen calmly to another person even when that person is offering unjust criticism.

5. PRACTICE PARAPHRASING. Paraphrasing is the art of putting into your own words what you thought you heard and saying it back to the sender. For example, a subordinate might say: "You have been unfair to rate me so low on my performance appraisal. You have rated me lower than Jim. I can do the job better than him, and I've been here longer." A paraphrased response might be: "I can see that you are upset about your rating. You think it was unfair for me to rate you as I did." Paraphrasing is a great technique for improving your listening and problem-solving skills. First, you have to listen very carefully if you are going to accurately paraphrase what you heard. A telemedicine program which began 18 months ago with an $11.5 million grant from WellPoint, owner of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia is now online in 39 rural counties, where patients and their doctors can visit a local presentation center and meet remotely with one of 75 specialists in areas such as dermatology, cardiology and pediatric medicine. The service is accessed at least once every hour of the working week.

I have to admit I'm shamefully behind on blogging this week. Between the AMA House of Delegates meeting, deadlines for FierceMobileHealthcare Tuesday and FierceEMR Thursday, plus a dentist's appointment thrown in for good measure, I've been too busy or too tired to post here. I also submitted an entry for the BNET Healthcare blog, but it hasn't been posted yet.

Meantime, I've left some people hanging.

While I was on the air with news anchor Andrea Darlas of WGN-AM 720 in Chicago to discuss President Obama's speech to the AMA, I promised this link to a story about a high-schooler in Washington state who correctly diagnosed herself in science class with Crohn's disease after doctors were stumped for years. Folks, this is why we need clinical decision support.

Fellow blogger Lodewijk Bos of the Im-Patient blog commented that he would like to see examples of the paranoia I observed at the AMA meeting. OK, but I have to link you to commentaries I wrote elsewhere, for FierceMobileHealthcare and FierceEMR. I humbly offer my "The audacity of 'nope'" headline from the latter commentary for the Headline Hall of Fame.

Tonight, "Anonymous," my biggest fan, left a comment asking where the proposed definition of meaningful use is. It's right here, my friend. Improve computer performance by reducing EFS cache validation

Navigate to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTFS\EFS\Parameters and set the parameter of EFSKCACHEPERIOD to a value between 2 and 30.
default is 5. Value suggest the time in seconds the kernel will cache the session key for a user for a given file. The Kernel will not validate the user credentials during this cache period. This has the net effect of faster access to encrypted files that may be opened several times during a given time period.This is helpful in kernel and user mode of the EFS (encrypting file system) as it provides quicker access to frequently use components. Similarly navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EFS and set the value of KeyCacheValidationPeriod to a value in units of second from 1 minute to 1 day (60 to 86400).

Boot Defragment for fast booting

A very important new feature in Microsoft Windows XP is the ability to do a boot defragment. This basically means that all boot files are placed next to each other on the disk drive to allow for faster booting. By default this option is enabled but some upgrade users have reported that it isn't on their setup.

1. Start Regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunction
3. Select Enable from the list on the right.
4. Right on it and select Modify.
5. Change the value to Y to enable and N to disable.
6. Reboot your computer.

1.Switch to welcome screen

Press Win+L to switch to the Welcome screen.

2.Lock your workstation

Press Win+L to lock your workstation.

3.Switch user easly

You can switch users without going through the Welcome screen: From Task Manager, go to the Users tab, right-click a user, and select Connect.

4.Hibrernate computer

Hold down the shift key in the shutdown dialog to change "Stand By" to "Hibernate". Or just press H to hibernate instantly. You can even use the Power Control Panel to configure your power button to hibernate.

5.Disable password when resuming stanby

To disable the password when resuming from standby or hibernation, open the Power Control Panel and uncheck "Prompt for password after returning from standby" on the Advanced tab.

6.Choose details

From the View Menu, select "Choose Details" to select which file properties should be shown in the Explorer window. To sort by a file property, check its name in the "Choose Details" in order to make that property available in the "Arrange Icons by" menu.

7.Display volume control icon in taskbar

To display the volume control icon in the taskbar, go to the Sounds and Audio Devices Control Panel and select "Place volume icon in the taskbar".

8.Delete file without send into recycle bin

Hold down the shift key when deleting a file to delete it immediately instead of placing it in the Recycle Bin. Files deleted in this way cannot be restored.

9.Customize 'send to' menu

Put a shortcut to your favorite editor in your Send To folder and it will appear in your "Send To" menu. You can then right-click any file and send it to your editor.

10.Organize favorites

a) To organize your Favorites in Explorer instead of using the Organize Favorites dialog, hold the shift key while selecting "Organize Favorites" from the Favorites menu of an Explorer window.

b) You can organize your Favorites by dragging the items around your Favorites menu.
Alternatively, you can open the Favorites pane and hold the Alt key while pressing the up and down arrows to change the order of your Favorites.

11.View IE in fullscreen

To run Internet Explorer fullscreen, press F11. Do it again to return to normal mode.

12.Hide printers & faxes

If your "Printers and Faxes" folder is empty, you can hide the "Printers and Faxes" icon when viewed from other computers by stopping the Print Spooler service.

13.Add/remove columns from detail mode

To add or remove columns from Details mode, select Choose Details from the View menu, or just right-click the column header bar.

14.Go backwards or forward by mouse wheel

In Internet Explorer, hold the Shift key while turning the mouse wheel to go forwards or backwards.

15.Add current page to favorites

In Internet Explorer, type Ctrl+D to add the current page to your Favorites.
This and many more keyboard shortcuts can be found by going to Internet Explorer, clicking the Help menu, then selecting Contents and Index. From the table of contents, open Accessibility and click "Using Internet Explorer keyboard shortcuts".

16.Shut down via Remote Desktop

To shut down via Remote Desktop, click the Start button, then type Alt+F4.

Windows Genuine Advantage Problems and Solutions

What is Windows Genuine Advantage?

Windows Genuine Advantage is Microsoft's not so subtle crackdown on illegal piracy of Windows XP and Microsoft Office products. Microsoft started with an ActiveX component to force owners of Windows XP to validate their version before downloading security updates. Unfortunately this particular scheme was rather easily foiled by groups on the net and workarounds appeared almost instantly including cracked files and javascript fixes.

Now Microsoft is becoming more advanced in their attack on pirated versions of Windows XP or Microsoft Office. They are including a Windows Genuine Advantage security patch in the updates of Windows XP. The newest patch, released the first week of June 2006, actually produces popups on the login screen and on the desktop explaining that this version of Windows XP is not genuine and the owner may be the victim of software counterfeiting.

If your version of Windows XP is not genuine and does not pass the validation schemes, you will not be able to download security patches from Windows Update, or install the latest version of Internet Explorer 7 and other software. For those users that do have a valid version of Windows XP, Microsoft offers some special promotions.

Run a Town Hall Meeting on Your Blog

Here’s a quick tip that I think a lot of bloggers could learn from - run a ‘town hall’ meeting on your blog.

The inspiration from this comes from Digg who are periodically run a ‘Town Hall’ webcast for their members.

The idea is simple - Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson from Digg periodically do a webcast for their members that gives information on the latest news at Digg as well as answering questions from their members. They’ve been running these on a quarterly basis at Digg for over a year now - you can see them all here.

OK - so what’s this got to do with your blog?

Here’s the thing - while Digg are obviously a lot bigger than your average blog and they have more resources to throw at creating these types of Town Hall webcasts - I think bloggers can learn from the idea.

While I’ve never used the term ‘town hall’ meeting on my blogs I have periodically done similar types of things for readers where I product updates on how the blogs are going, talk about new directions and take questions.
Benefits of Town Hall Type Meetings with Blog Readers

What I’ve found is that when you communicate these types of things it can have a real impact upon your reader community in a variety of ways:

* Reader Morale - every time I do this type of exercise I see signs of reader morale lifting.
* Reader Involvement - perhaps tied to the morale of your readers is that when you communicate with them about how your blog is going I’ve noticed that they often will get more involved with it.
* Gives Your Blog a ‘Face’ - one of the main benefits that I’ve noticed about these sorts of sessions when I’ve done them on video using Ustream is that it gives your blog a more personal edge. Readers get to see and hear what you’re like and come away feeling a different kind of connection than they get just reading your content.
* Clearing up Misconceptions - giving readers a chance to tell you what they think of your blog and to listen to your response can help clear up misconceptions that they might have about you or your site.
* Reader Involvement - getting readers involved in your blog in any way (even if it’s just asking a question or watching a video/web cast) means that they’re investing something of themselves into your blog. What comes out of these interactions can be all kinds of great ideas that they can give you - not to mention the things you might ask them to DO in promoting your community to their own network.
* Readers Using Your Blog Better - these sorts of ‘town hall’ meetings give you an opportunity to point out features of your blog that readers might not be aware of to help them to use it better. For example, pointing out the social media bookmarking buttons on your blog, explaining how to subscribe via RSS, showing off a newsletter you produce - all of these things can deepen reader engagement/satisfaction and help you grow your blog.

While not all of your readers will be interested on the behind the scenes goings on of your blog - some will.
